Designed to honor the year's best children’s books, authors and illustrators, Beehive Reader 1 eclipsed nearly 1,000 entries to be named a Silver award winner. Published by Takeaway Press, Beehive Reader 1 was written by Marie Rippel with Renee LaTulippe, and illustrated by David LaTulipppe and Donna Goeddaeus. The Moonbeam Children's Book Awards are open to authors, illustrators, and publishers of children’s books written in English or Spanish and intended for the North American market. Presented by Jenkins Group and Independent Publisher Online, the Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards are designed to bring increased recognition to exemplary children’s books and their creators, and to support childhood literacy and life-long reading. Moonbeam Awards are presented in 36 categories ranging from alphabet and counting books to young adult fiction. Medals have been awarded to authors, illustrators and publishers from thirty-two U.S. states, five Canadian provinces, and seven countries overseas.
